At César Chávez Elementary School, we engage students with high expectations while providing the equitable support that students deserve. We are dedicated to developing high-quality programs that empower students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
César Chávez Elementary School offers families a choice of a traditional English immersion program or a 50-50 dual language model (Spanish-English). Both strands serve students in grades K - 5 and support literacy development in one or two languages. We are also proud to offer pre-k classes for four-year old students.
The dual language program offers a comprehensive, standards-based literacy program focused on ensuring that students become biliterate and bilingual by 5th grade. Science and social studies are organized around themes to create student interest in learning while respecting and honoring each child’s voice, personal life experience, beliefs, language and culture. Our Imaginarium inspires students to love math and supports their active participation in scientific practices and investigations.
Our trauma-informed, caring and professional staff offer an extensive, high-level curriculum to support students’ academic and wellness growth and success. We have a full time nurse and school counselor; both exceptionally qualified. A community school coordinator and Student Success Facilitator also support students and families through after school programming, classes for parents and community partnerships.
