Alisha Wald, a sixth-grader at Wood-Gormley Elementary in Santa Fe, explains how she added dishwashing soap to water to study surface tension changes. Wald competed in the junior division of the New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair, held April 14-15, 2023, at New Mexico Tech in Socorro.
She placed 2nd in the Junior Division of Physics & Astronomy! Great job, Alisha!

Chaparral Elementary participated in the Great American Cleanup on April 15th, 2023 with over 150 participants clearing and cleaning trash, branches, and tumbleweeds from around campus! A special thank you goes to Ruby Estrada as well as Dr. Carmen Gonzalez and her husband who stopped by to help! Most of all, we thank the Chaparral families for their continued support on events like these!





SFPS and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival will be holding events for recitals and performance concerts featuring some of SFPS' Bands, Orchestras, Choirs, and other instruments this Spring! Día celebrates children’s literacy with fun events and free books for local children on April 29th at all three of our Santa Fe Public Library branches. There will be therapy ponies, face painting, and mariachis as just some of examples.


Dr. Ricardo Paz, Artistic Director of our Guitar Ensemble and SFPS presents our 2nd Annual Guitar Ensemble on April 24, 2023 at Capital High School's Bryan Fant Theatre at 5:30 PM! Performances will feature students from Ortiz MS, Santa Fe HS, and Capital HS! Come and enjoy our wonderful guitarists!


Fernanda Ruiz received the 3rd Place Prize at Cuentistas New Mexico - a prestigious writing competition for Hispanic and Latino Youth throughout the Southwest including both Middle and High Schools! Her story focused on a fictional dream where she had a chance to be altruistic due to a winning lotto ticket! Congratulations Fernanda - SFPS and Ortiz MS are very proud of you!



It's the 151st Anniversary of Arbor Day, and SFPS students will be at Genoveva Chavez Community Center Park on Friday, April 28th, 2023 from 11AM - 1PM to help plant trees and honor this day that helps the environment, community, and beauty of Santa Fe! The Northern New Mexico Horsemen's Association is on a mission to educate and encourage the Northern New Mexico community with regard to equine wellness and equestrian activities! Del Norte Credit Union and the SFPS Parent Academy sponsored a Financial Literacy Event today at Chaparral Elementary School! The goal was to educate the young students on the value of saving money to and promote good financial habits! Every student received a storybook, coloring book and a $20 Gift Certificate to go with their parents to start a savings account with Del Norte Credit Union!
