graduate high fives younger student

As graduation approaches, seniors from Santa Fe High School (SFHS) took part in a cherished Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) tradition by returning to the campuses where their educational journeys first began. Dressed in caps and gowns, the graduating students walked through the halls of their former elementary, K-8, and middle schools as students, teachers, and staff lined the hallways with cheers, applause, and high-fives.

The visits sparked meaningful moments of connection and celebration across the district. Younger students watched with excitement and admiration as the seniors passed by, seeing firsthand what their own futures could hold. For many SFHS seniors, the experience was emotional and reflective as they revisited familiar classrooms, reunited with former teachers, and remembered the early years that helped shape their paths.

“Seeing our seniors return to the schools where their journeys began is incredibly meaningful,” said SFHS Principal Jaime Chavez. “It reminds our younger students that success is achievable and shows our graduates how many people have supported them along the way. This tradition highlights the strong sense of community within SFPS and celebrates the hard work, resilience, and growth of our students.”
