The SFPS Innovation Expo, in its eighth year, was a vibrant celebration of creativity, technology, and education on Wednesday evening at Milagro Middle School.

The free, family-friendly event welcomed the Santa Fe community to experience firsthand how students and educators are embracing innovation in the classroom and beyond.

The Expo highlighted the many ways Santa Fe students and educators are leveraging technology to amplify student voices, build critical thinking skills, and support future-ready learning. Students, teachers, and district staff shared projects, while community organizations offered interactive exhibits and showcased their programs.

Centered around the guiding question, “What does innovation mean to you?”, the event featured engaging and authentic approaches to learning, creating, and helping others. Students proudly presented projects demonstrating their use of digital tools, problem-solving, and ingenuity to make an impact.

“Thank you for joining us for an evening of innovation and collaboration,” said Katy Grunewald, Digital Learning Innovation Coordinator. “It was a wonderful opportunity for SFPS schools, district departments, and community partners to explore ideas, learn together, and connect with the larger community.”

Community partners, including STEMarts Lab, SITE Santa Fe, Santa Fe Business Incubator, Santa Fe Public Library, New Mexico State Library, the Lensic, we.grow.eco, the Santa Fe Watershed Association, Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary, and the City of Santa Fe, provided hands-on activities and opportunities for attendees to explore and learn about sustainability efforts available. LEGO and Skill Struck also joined the event, supporting student engagement and problem-solving skills through computational thinking and computer science.
