Biography
Linda
Sink is the Deputy Superintendent for the Santa Fe Public Schools. Her last
position was with Cooperative Educational Services (CES) where she was Director
of Ancillary Services. During her tenure at CES, she created a program to
provide academic improvement through customized professional development and
onsite coaching for school districts in New Mexico. Linda was a high school
biology teacher, administrator, principal and Chief Academic Officer for the
Albuquerque Public Schools. As CAO she instituted Professional Learning
Communities designed to focus on data and instruction. She extended Parent
Teacher Conferences to middle schools and high schools to increase parent
involvement, and created the first formal Academic Plan for the district. She initiated
the Common Core State Standards in the APS system, focusing on elementary math
and reading. She was recognized for her work by the Council of Great City
Schools as a leader in curriculum and instruction aligned to the new state
standards.
Overview
Reporting to the Superintendent the Deputy Superintendent is assisted by two
Executive Directors to manage school sites and lead change initiatives to
improve student achievement. The position oversees multiple departments, each
of which is headed by a Director. The Deputy Superintendent oversees and
manages day-to-day- operations of educational programs and services for the
District. Plans, develops and implements functions related to curriculum,
instruction and staff development.
Responsibilities
Supervises Associate Superintendent who oversees all the
schools, and the academic related departments, Assistant Superintendent for School and Instructional Support & District Instructional Coaches, Capital and Santa Fe High School, Mandela International Magnet School, Cesar Chavez Elementary School, the Curriculum & Instruction Department, and the Special Education Department. Sets strategy for academic
instruction and secondary reform. Aligns all instruction and programs to
effectively support and increase high student achievement. Provides leadership,
oversight and direction for overall planning of curriculum, instruction,
professional and leadership development and support programs. Uses data to
determine effectiveness of programs and initiatives. Serves on District NEA
negotiating team.
