December Teacher of the Month - Shantel Kilkenny-Dixon

In partnership with Nusenda Credit Union, Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) is pleased to announce that Capital High School (CHS) English teacher Shantel Kilkenny-Dixon is the first recipient of the Teacher of the Month honor--a new initiative to honor classroom teachers for their outstanding contributions to SFPS students, their families, and the community they serve. Mrs. Kilkenny-Dixon was recognized on Wednesday, December 12th with an award, gift card, and certificate presented by June Manning, Membership Development and Retention for Nusenda, and SFPS Superintendent Veronica C. Garcia. Each month, Nusenda will recognize a classroom teacher as the Teacher of the Month for SFPS.

Kilkenny-Dixon is a CHS graduate, former AVID student and Athlete of the Year for her graduating class. She attended New Mexico State University, where she majored in secondary English education. She returned to CHS as an English teacher in January 2016.

She is a member of the AVID School Site Team and is English department leader. Her work with the AVID Site Team helped CHS to be revalidated as an AVID National Demonstration School this year.  Kilkenny-Dixon is pursuing a master's degree from the University of New Mexico.
