Posted on 08/10/2021

Three individuals at Capital High School tested positive for COVID-19 on August 7th, 2021. The individuals had been on campus on August 6th. The individuals are isolating and will continue to do so until released per Department of Health (DOH) guidelines. All close contacts who were identified as a result of this exposure have been notified.

Contact tracing does not indicate this case was contracted from within SFPS. All personal identifying information will remain confidential.  All reporting and cleaning protocols are being followed at Capital High School.

According to Public Education Department guidelines dated July 26th, individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and who have had close contact with a COVID-19 infectious individual are not required to quarantine if they meet the following criteria:

  • Are fully vaccinated (i.e., more than two weeks following receipt of the second dose in a two-dose vaccine, or more than two weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine)

  • Have remained asymptomatic since the current COVID-19 exposure

Any parent/guardian of a student testing positive for COVID-19 must provide a list of close

contacts to DOH and SFPS’ lead school nurse or the COVID-19 response specialist who assists with contact tracing.
