Kris Armijo

Kris Armijo- Ed Tech Coordinator

M.S.Ed Instructional Technology

Prior to entering the field of education, I came from a background in multimedia design where my love for technology and nerdy personality were born. These traits and skills have been sprinkled throughout my years in education. I began my education career in 2005 as a classroom teacher in 5th grade. I also taught 6th grade for a bit, then worked as a K-5 Math Interventionist before accepting my current position as my district’s Education Technology Specialist in 2016. Now I enjoy blending my passion for technology with my heart for the classroom, and I love collaborating with other educators from around the world to explore solutions for impacting learning outcomes and promoting student agency!

As a design technologist, it is important to remember the humans who use the technology. I wish to work in a world where we are using technology to foster human to human connections. And there are so many different ways to human that its important for technology to be accessible and fun for all. We choose to engage with something new for different reasons, but we choose to continue that engagement for similar reasons. My work is dedicated to attracting a wide variety of people, and finding ways to keep them engaged with each other and with the experiences we create together, with a bit of technological magic sprinkled in.Experience in Engineering, Design and Fabrication

Becca Sharp- MFA Student

New Mexico Highlands University

Las Vegas, N.M. – Becca Sharp is an exceptional leader and student in the Media Arts and Technology Department who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in summer 2020 with an emphasis in multimedia and interactivity.A trio of media arts and technology professors joined forces to nominate Sharp for the Forever Cowboy Student Award.“Becca Sharp is an outstanding student who demonstrates leadership through kindness and enthusiasm daily,” said Miriam Langer, Media Arts and Technology Department chair and professor. “Becca has been at the center of a biweekly cohesive, supportive and inclusive cohort of students who have stepped up through very difficult times, such as the accidental death of a peer in 2018, numerous high stress projects in high profile museums, and the derailment of our face-to-face classes due to COVID 19. During this crisis, Becca brought students together through Zoom videoconferencing technology so they could support each other.”

2020 DIGITAL EQUITY AWARD

Santa Fe Public Schools is proud of the measures we have taken to ensure every one of our students has access to learning; whether learning in a school, or from home. In 2020, SFPS was awarded the District Digital Equity Award by the Consortium for School Networking (COSN).

This award showcases our equity efforts and the work we have done allowed the SFPS district to quickly pivot to a remote learning environment during the Covid-19 pandemic. We would like to thank the Board of Education and Superintendent Garcia for their leadership which makes our work possible!

Dr. Neal Weaver, PhD., Chief Information and Strategy Officer of Digital Learning at SFPS
