Curriculum & Instruction

Overview

The Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction oversees Pre-K through grade 12 core program deliveries, including English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, and physical education. Program oversight also includes federal programs, new teacher mentoring, AVID, and professional development.

The department also operates a number of programs outside of the school day/year, including the K-3 Plus program, summer academic and enrichment programs, Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEARUP) and the 21st Century Community Learning Center after school programs.

Responsibilities

The Department serves as the central contact point for the District and schools Educational Plan for Student Success (EPSS), federal grant applications, budgets for Title I, Title II, 21st Century, K-3 Plus, Pre-K programs, Reads to Lead, and Carl Perkins.

Current Initiatives

The staff works to engage district personnel in professional dialogue and work outside of the classroom through various activities focused on aligning and continually updating instruction and programs to Common Core and New Mexico State Standards.
