College Planning Timeline

Recommended steps to take for college preparation at each stage in high school:

  • 9th Grade

  • 10th Grade

  • 11th Grade

  • 12th Grade

Dual Credit & Concurrent Enrollment

If you’re a qualified high school student, you can get a jump start on college by enrolling in “concurrent” classes at the Santa Fe Community College (SFCC). This way, you can see what college is like, start working on your associate’s degree, or simply enroll in college-level courses that spark your interest. Best of all, you can earn both high school and college credit for the classes you complete at SFCC.

Placement Testing

Placement testing is used to determine skill level and readiness. The results of your exam will be used to determine whether there is a need for developmental placement. The Santa Fe Community College provides placement testing at no charge. Take Accuplacer in the Testing Center – Room 611 – at the Santa Fe Community College. No appointment is needed, and there is no cost; but you will need a photo ID such as a driver’s license or state ID card and a student ID number (also called your A#).

For information about placement testing, call (505) 428-1625 or visit https://www.sfcc.edu/placement-testing/.
