Margaret Pettengill

Margaret
Margaret Pettengill graduated from The College of Wooster in Ohio with a Bachelor of Music (Honors): major in Voice. Upon graduation she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to attend the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, Austria. While there Margaret was one of ten young singers selected to be in the Opernstudio of the Wiener Staatsoper. She then embarked upon a professional singing career that spanned thirty years and took her to Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Austria and Russia. Returning to the United States, Margaret settled in Santa Fe, first teaching voice at The College of Santa Fe, then teaching for the Santa Fe Public Schools. Margaret taught all levels – elementary, middle and high school.  She taught Choir, General Music and Piano with the schools. A highlight from those years was the Pinon All-Stars Choir, which numbered ninety children, grades 3-6 and received the highest performance rating in the Music Performance Assessment. A second highlight was the Capital High School Concert Choir qualifying for and singing in the State Competition – this was the only time a choral ensemble from Capital HS has achieved this.
