The purpose of the teacher mentorship program is to provide beginning teachers with an effective transition into the teaching field, to build on their initial preparation and to ensure their success in teaching; to improve the achievement of students; and to retain capable teachers in the classroom and to remove teachers who show little promise of success.
SFPS and NMPED Mentoring Requirement
As a new teacher to the SFPS District, you will be required by state statute to participate in a SFPS mandatory mentorship program for one full year as an Intern or Level I licensed teacher. Completion of the mentorship program is part of advancing from level 1 licensure to level 2 licensure.
