SFPS August 22, 2018- SFPS Vision Screening Program

Screenings are scheduled in September and October. Check with your school for specific dates.

Legislation was passed in New Mexico in 2007 requiring vision screening to be administered to students enrolled in identified grades. That same legislation created a fund to provide assistance for students without insurance and referred by school nurses to obtain a comprehensive eye exam and/or eye wear as appropriate.

Target populations for required screening in New Mexico schools include the following grades and all new and transfer students who do not have a record of vision screening on file with the school: Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, First Grade, Third Grade

If you do not wish to have your child screened, please notify your school nurse before Friday, September 7, 2018.
