Guidelines For School Counseling Interns
In selecting an internship site, Santa Fe Public Schools requires students to:
  • Be in the second year of a graduate level counseling program
  • Plan to initiate internship at the start of an SFPS semester, and continue to the end of the SFPS school year.
  • Commit to a minimum of 14 hours per week.
  • Receive regular supervision from the district counselor on site.
  • Plan to participate in district required trainings.
  • Apply to the Office of Student Wellness for initial screening by completing and submitting Intern Screening Form.
  • Complete items on Intern Processing Checklist.

The site counselor will contact the intern for an interview. Prospective interns should not approach individual principals or counselors for work outside of these guidelines.
