El Dorado Advanced Band Wins Third Place in State Contest!
Under the direction of April Pickrell, the El Dorado Advanced Band, comprised of 7th and 8th grade students, recently placed third in New Mexico in the middle school band division. The contest was sponsored by New Mexico Activities Association.
Eligibility for this competition is earned with a rating of “Superior” in Music Performance Assessment, combined with the highest student accomplishment, to include excellence in articulation, balance, intonation, interpretation, accuracy, technique, and tone quality – all inherent components of musicianship.
The El Dorado Advanced Band’s placement is distinctive, displaying high honor and achievement.
Other Santa Fe Public Schools ensembles who performed admirably in New Mexico Activities Association State Band and Choir Contests were Aspen Community School 7th and 8th Grade Band under the direction of Laura Eberhardt, Santa Fe High Advanced Mixed Choir under the direction of Marilyn Barnes, and Santa Fe High School Wind Ensemble under the direction of Zebulon Bellon. Participation in state contest is noteworthy, and these students and directors deserve high praise.
Hearty congratulations to all Directors and Students!
