Secondary School Reform
CHS Graduate

The Secondary School Reform Task Force has collected and analyzed feedback from the community, and has researched possible options to conceptualize a structure to create rigor, relevance, and relationships in our secondary schools. The Task Force’s report, Expanding Options for Families at the Secondary Level: Creating Rigor, Relevance and Relationships For Every Student was first presented to the Santa Fe Board of Education in early December 2012 and an updated report was presented on April 16, 2013.
In this most recent report, the task force recommended a new structural concept for secondary reform which includes three distinct components – redesign of the district’s comprehensive high schools, development of a magnet school, and expansion of our alternative education program. This presentation also includes details on the data that led to these recommendations and the proposed timeline for planning and implementation.
On Tuesday, October 15, at 5:30pm, the preliminary five year implementation plan, iGraduate - Expanding Options for Families: Preliminary Five Year Plan, was discussed as part of the Board of Education Meeting. All Board meetings and study sessions are broadcast live via the web, and you can connect to this broadcast by clicking on SFPS TV on the district’s main page. We will be seeking community input to the preliminary five year plan in the coming weeks and months.
